“Marc Chagall. Love and life” is the title of the exhibition which will be open soon at Chiostro del Bramante, the prestigious location few steps away from Piazza Navona.
One-hundred-fifty paintings, drawings and prints will be on display from March 16 to July 26. Most of his production is inspired to his own life experience: Bella Rosenfeld, his wife, as well as the Jewish religion played a fundamental role as basically ever-present motifs in his works: take the goat for instance, an allegory of hope and confidence; the hut, reminiscent of the celebration of the feast after the Exodus; the donkey, tied to the different moments of the Bible; and the fiddler figure who uses to attend the major Jewish religious holidays.
The making of the exhibition was possible thanks to the co-operation between Rome and the Israel Museum of Jerusalem, where Chagall’s works on display came from.
Opening times: daily. From Monday to Friday 10am – 8 pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am – 9 pm.
