POPE FRANCIS & THE WORLD BIGGEST CHRISTMAS TREE

POPE FRANCIS & THE WORLD BIGGEST CHRISTMAS TREE

Pope Francis and Gubbio Christmas tree

300 green lights, 250 colored lights, 650 m high, 8500 m electric cables, a 1000 m² wide comet on the top: these numbers belong to the biggest Christmas tree in the world, stretching on the ridge of Mount Ingino in Umbria. The electric system of the tree was powered on no less than by Pope Francis, who could switch on the lights from His studio in the Vatican City just by clicking on a tablet connected to Gubbio, the little town in central Italy where the Guinness’ Christmas tree is located. It will be on until about the first week of 2015.
Gubbio is at just 200 km distance from Rome, and is well connected by local trains departing from Termini station: Carlito Hotel & Hostel‘s staff will be happy to help you out with more info on daily trips next to Rome!
