ROME MARATHON: 42 KM INSIDE THE ETERNAL CITY

Rome Marathon 2015 will be held this year on Sunday 22 March, starting at 8:50 am from via dei Fori Imperiali, a location that corresponds to the finish line as well. The 42 km 195 m long race will receive a great number of participants from all over the world, which makes of it the biggest sport event in Italy. According to tradition, the itinerary twists and turns around the ancient city center, touching then some areas off the most renowned beaten tracks, not less fascinating though, before ending up again downtown. 2014 edition was won by two Ethiopian runners, Shume Hailu recording 2:09:47 in the males’ race, and Ayelu Lemma recording 2:34:49 in the females’ category.
Another sport event will parallel the Maratona di Roma that day: the so called Romafun, “La Stracittadina”, a non-competitive 5 km walk turning around via dei Fori Imperiali and Circo Massimo, which will be starting at 9:10 am. It’s open to anyone: families with babies and pets, youngsters, elderly, all sharing the common intent to spend a nice day in the heart of the Eternal City. The two events have different deadlines for registration: March 5 for the Marathon, March 21 for the Romafun.
