3 years of scientific researches and approximately 3 million euro spent: the Vatican commemorates in the most sumptuous way two major events of its history, that is to say 450 years since Michelangelo’s passing away and 20 years since Sistine Chapel’s first massive restoration.
From now onwards, everyone’s eyes are on (literally!) the results of those studies and expenses: the most famous frescoes cycle in the world – the Sistine Chapel – has been recently equipped with a highly sophisticated lighting and air-conditioning system. Both of them will guarantee a safer preservation of the paintings (through automatic regulation of air temperatures and humidity), and the best possible visibility currently allowed by technology (through 7,000 LEDs specifically designed for each and every piece of painting to be enlightened).
In other words, 2014 marks a new bright life for the Sistine Chapel: one more reason to visit the Vatican Museums. They can be reached in 15 minutes metro journey from Termini station, which makes of Carlito Hotel & Hostel a comfortable accommodation even in this case!
